The Diamond Head neighborhood, located on the southeast shore of Oahu, is the perfect place to set down roots next to glamorous mansions and stunning beaches. Next to the more popular Waikiki, Diamond Head has plenty of low-key beaches and is conveniently located near popular activities and attractions.
Schools
The Kalani Complex encompasses the Diamond Head school district, with six elementary schools to choose from, a middle school and a high school. The complex is also home to the Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind.
One of the country’s most beautiful schools, Kapiloani Community College or KCC is located nearby. The KCC is also home to a weekly farmer’s market.
Real estate trends
Apartments and housing in Diamond Head generally cost more than in other areas of the country. The average apartment rent for $2,500 a month, putting Diamond Head in line with large cities, like New York and San Francisco. Condos cost around $750,000 for 1,000 square feet and homes are averaged at over $3 million for 3,500 square feet.
Local attractions
Diamond Head is home to plenty of attractions and is a big tourist destination. One of the most popular attractions is the volcano, where visitors can hike and nab awesome views of the surrounding area at Diamond Head State Monument.
Kapiolani Park offers plenty of surfing for beach babies. The tennis courts and archery range are popular amongst more athletic types, while the jogging paths provide plenty of beautiful scenery for runners. Kids love the Waikiki Aquarium and the Honolulu Zoo.
Beaches are plentiful in Hawaii, and Diamond Head is no different. Nearby Waikiki Beach offers plenty of sunbathing opportunities, as do the more low-key beaches in Diamond Head and Kahala. A local lighthouse is the perfect backdrop for stunning family photos.
When you’re done being a tourist in your own home town, head over to one of the shopping malls for some high-end digs or to grab a bite to eat. Waikiki and Hawaii Kai are both home to plenty of shopping malls, like the Kahala, the Ala Moana or the Waikiki mall.
